Rules

House rules

These exist to keep everyone comfortable, not to tie anyone down. The idea is simply to enjoy singing — this is the minimum that protects it.

Rule 01

How we operate

  • Everything within the group is arranged through our LINE group.
  • The only bands you may form here are one-day or short-term project bands.
  • Rehearsals start with a call to the group: "I would like to sing ⃝⃝ — anyone want to join?", "Anyone up for a cappella on the ⃝⃝th?", or "I want to play the ⃝⃝ event, shall we put a short-term band together?" Any member of the LINE group may put out a call.
  • Forming a long-term (fixed) band within the LINE group is not allowed.
  • What you arrange privately outside the group is your own business; we do not restrict it.
  • Short-term bands formed for a particular event are very welcome.

Rule 02

Where we rehearse

  • Rehearsal studios, karaoke rooms or parks around Omiya only.
  • Rehearsing near the venue shortly before an event is an accepted exception.

The area is deliberately narrow. Widen it beyond Omiya and there would be nothing to tell us apart from every other adult a cappella circle — "we can all get to Omiya" is what gives this community its shape.

Rule 03

Cancelling a rehearsal

  • If something comes up, tell the other members by the day before the rehearsal.
  • If you fall ill on the day, tell them at least two hours beforehand.
  • Repeatedly ignoring the above is grounds for removal from the group.

Rule 04

During rehearsal

  • How you run a rehearsal is entirely up to the band.
  • That said, the whole idea is to enjoy singing. Losing your temper in rehearsal, or laying into someone personally, is not on.
  • Please arrive having already learned your part.

Rule 05

Anything else

  • You are free to talk to members individually, within reason. Where that causes trouble, the person responsible may be asked to leave.
  • Inviting the whole group out for a meal, a drink or karaoke is very welcome.
  • Religious or business solicitation is not allowed.
  • Being in other bands or other circles is completely fine.
